Men Nguyen

Men Nguyen is a Vietnamese poker player who was born in 1954 at Phan Thiet in Vietnam. He is nicknamed as The Master and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He was a school dropout and started his career as a bus driver so as to support his family. He moved on to the political asylum in America in the year 1978 and eventually ended up being an American citizen in the year  1986.

During his stay in America, he made sure he visited Las Vegas and would constantly visit the casinos and play poker. In the beginning, he did lose a lot of money. However this never stopped him from playing the game and he eventually went on to being termed as the “Money Machine”. He constantly practiced and finally won his first tournament in the year 1987. With the winnings he decided to start a furniture and dry cleaning business and thought it was a good approach to having a decent family income. Moreover with these businesses, he also managed to get hold of other Vietnamese people and had a time to interact with them.

Men Nguyen’s professional poker career right away and had made over 120 finishes during the period of 2000 to 2004. He won over 75 tournaments during that period and eventually had a good earning from the poker he played. He went on to even tutoring new comers and most of them ended up becoming successful poker stars including his cousin Minh Nguyen and David Pham. Seeing his success rate as a trainer, he was termed as the Master by Benny Binion and now is frequently referred to as Men the Master by all the players in the professional poker circuit.

Men Nguyen has also won the Player of the Year award by the Card Player magazine for the years 1997, 2001, 2003 and 2005. He is known to be the most highly accomplished tournament players in the world. He has won 7 bracelets till date at the World Series of Poker and has over 70 money finishes. His total earnings exceed over 9.7million as of now and it is sure to keep on increasing. AT the World Poker tour, he has had 13 money finishes and went on to sitting at the final table for 4 times. He does not hold any title at the World Poker Tour as of now, but has helped many young and budding poker aspirants to do well in the World Poker Tour.
